Formerly the "Navigation Pavilion" of the Mata-Jardim José do Canto estate, Casa dos Barcos was commissioned in the mid-19th century by the Canto family - among the most influential aristocratic families of São Miguel. Its distinctive stepped gable façade, perfectly reflected in the still waters of Lagoa das Furnas, is one of the most iconic images of the Azores.

When you book Casa dos Barcos, the entire house is yours. Two bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, sleep up to four guests in complete privacy. A newly renovated dining area and a porch overlooking the lake make it as comfortable as it is extraordinary. No two mornings are the same when your view is a volcanic lake shrouded in mist.
